An app, with a library of 50 Hindi stories and 40 English stories, is making reading easier for children in India.
Bolo, which uses artificial intelligence to guide young readers, has launched in India on Google’s Android operating system to fill a need. “As per the annual ASER 2018 report, of all students enrolled in Grade 5 in rural India, only about half of them can confidently read a Grade 2 level textbook,” reads a statement from the Google India blog.
The app was tested across 200 villages in Uttar Pradesh, India, and it showed promising results. Google found 64 percent of the children who used it improved their reading.
