Kwabena was one of an estimated one-million children* around the world working in a gold mine, where he was exposed to chemicals while working in tight spaces.

“I don’t have anyone to support me,” he said at the time.

Thanks to supporters Kwabena was gifted with a uniform, a bike to get to school, books and more. And, his widowed mom was given seed money to sell small items to support her son to stay in school.
