What’s his role and connection to the cause?
Brett is a strategic communications leader, brand builder and storyteller with extensive experience in the for-profit and non-profit sectors.
As a dedicated champion for the most vulnerable children, he previously worked at World Vision, driving key advocacy efforts, including the G7 Charlevoix Education Initiative and the No Child for Sale campaign. During that time, he was an external communications strategist for the executive office where he had life-altering opportunities to visit 20+ countries.
Brett previously worked as a journalist and video producer for nearly 10 years, primarily with Bell Media.
Today, he uses his media expertise to lead Children Believe’s strategic communications team. Brett also supports marketing, program and executive-office communications to enhance the brand and inspire action from Canadians.
What academic work set him up for success?
Brett earned a commerce degree at Saint Mary’s University in Halifax. He began his career in private wealth management with BMO Nesbitt Burns before making his foray into business media, current affairs journalism and, eventually, international development.
Brett has a fondness for discarded or damaged objects. He expresses this creatively by making jewelry from items he stumbles across during his travels away from home.
