What the UN has to say about gender equality
International Women’s Day shines spotlight on pressing issue
International Women’s Day isn’t widely celebrated in Canada, but this year the message seemed to reach further. And, the word from the United Nations (UN) was clear.
“Our aim is to have parity across the board in the whole of the UN,” says António Guterres, secretary-general of the UN in a video message. We want to “create an organization in which women and men can work together in full equality and contribute to a world in which women and men can also be in full equality.”
At Christian Children’s Fund of Canada, we hear the call for action. And, as we move forward we’re making a concerted effort to be more intentional about our work with women, an issue that we already hold close to our hearts.
Watch the UN video below to see how the world needs to come together on this important issue.
ABOUT CHILDREN BELIEVE:
Children Believe works globally to empower children to dream fearlessly, stand up for what they believe in — and be heard. For 60+ years, we’ve brought together brave young dreamers, caring supporters and partners, and unabashed idealists. Together, we’re driven by a common belief: creating access to education — inside and outside of classrooms — is the most powerful tool children can use to change their world.
