What’s his role and connection to the cause?

David Basco serves as Director, Channels & Campaigns at Children Believe, where he leads integrated fundraising and marketing strategies across channels to grow revenue, expand reach, and strengthen supporter engagement. He brings over 20 years of senior leadership experience in integrated fundraising, mass marketing, and team development across the nonprofit and corporate sectors.

David joins Children Believe from the Canadian Cancer Society, where he most recently served as Director, Integrated Campaigns, leading national multi-channel campaigns that drove strong revenue growth, introduced new giving strategies, and expanded reach through multicultural marketing. Prior to this, he spent several years at other health-related and community-based charities like Make-A-Wish Canada, Heart and Stroke Foundation, Sunnybrook Foundation and YMCA of Greater Toronto, where he helped build brand health, grow mass marketing programs and strengthen digital and direct response efforts.

Growing up in a developing country, David brings a deeply personal connection to Children Believe’s mission and faith-based values. He is a strategic, collaborative, and data focused leader passionate about building strong teams and developing fundraising initiatives that empower communities and create lasting change for children.

 

What academic work set him up for success?

David holds a Bachelor of Business Administration, focused in Marketing, from the Schulich School of Business at York University, and completed additional business studies at the University of the Philippines and the University of Bath through an exchange program.

 

Interesting tidbit

David is a lifelong basketball fan (Go Spurs Go!), an avid movie enthusiast, and is happiest when going on adventures with his family.
