Kim Savage

Three words that best describe her

Adventurous, dedicated, social-butterfly

What’s her life’s work?

Kim Savage has spent her career working in the social purpose sector.  She steadfastly believes that dignity and opportunity are inherent rights and should be accessible for all.  Kim has invested her time into organizations and projects that will advance potential and equity for people locally and globally.

Fresh out of university, she worked as a Communications Coordinator for an urban mission in Vancouver BC, quickly learning that almost everyone has a dream for their life.

Fast forward to now and Kim serves as the Executive Director of Surrey Food Bank.  Just prior to her current appointment, Kim gave leadership to an international development agency that worked in 16 countries.  Her work makes her soul sing as she witnesses the impact possible when good people align to do great things.

What academic role set her up for success?

Kim holds a Bachelors of Applied Science from Simon Fraser University with a major in Communications and a minor in English.  Her leadership and work is deeply rooted in nurturing and facilitating dialogue and understanding with a focus on clarity, vision building and articulating what is possible in a future state. And the communications has certainly come in handy with all the media interviews and public engagements over the years.

Her mother can often be heard at dinner party sharing how her daughter literally gets paid to talk to people.  She’s not wrong.
