Install safe, sanitary washrooms. Without proper sanitation, children face disease, poor hygiene, and unsafe conditions that put their health at risk. For girls especially, washrooms also mean dignity and protection.
My name is Deborah. I’m in Grade 8. For a long time, my school had no washrooms. If I needed to use one, I had to go to the open fields, which was not safe. Many girls were raped or assaulted, and others saw them naked. During my period, I had to stay home or beg to change at nearby houses. School washrooms change girls’ lives! Bad boys in the field threatened us. I was scared of getting pregnant and married off. One day, boys saw me in the bush and told others the colour of my pants. Embarrassed, I missed many lessons and worked on the farm. I wasn’t sure I could catch up and feared not finishing school.

Spending of funds is confined to Children Believe approved programs and projects. Each contribution directed toward an approved program or project will be used as restricted with the understanding that when the need for such a program or project has been met, or cannot be completed for any reason as determined by Children Believe, the remaining restricted contributions will be in a like minded project or program, or used where most needed.
