Pathways to Change
in Ethiopia

Real change starts with children

Since 1987, Children Believe Ethiopia has partnered with communities to remove barriers that prevent children from learning, staying safe, and building vibrant futures. Today, we work across 53 communities , reaching more than 426,000 children, youth, women and men through child-centered, family-focused, community-led programs.

Education

Strong foundations. Lifelong learning.

We strengthen Early Childhood Care and Development and primary education systems so children build confidence from the earliest years. Our approach combines infrastructure, teacher training, inclusive education and crisis-responsive learning continuity.

Health and Nutrition in Thriving Communities

Healthy beginnings. Strong futures.

We strengthen health systems while mobilizing communities through mothers' clubs and Integrated Nutrition Teams. By improving maternal, newborn and child health services and nutrition practices, we help communities thrive even in fragile settings.

Child Protection and Participation

Safe childhoods. Strong voices.

We prevent violence, harmful practices and neglect by strengthening community protection
systems and creating structured platforms where children can lead and advocate for change.

Gender Equality and Social Inclusion

Equity that transforms communities.

We challenge harmful norms, promote girls' education, strengthen women's leadership and expand economic participation for marginalized groups. Gender equality is woven across every pathway.

Youth Employability and Economic Empowerment

Opportunity. Independence. Dignity.

We combine vocational training, entrepreneurship support, financial inclusion and private-sector linkages so young people can transition into employment or launch their own businesses.

Climate Change

Resilient communities. Protected futures.

Children Believe Ethiopia has progressively embedded climate resilience and environmental sustainability across its programming, recognizing the deep interconnections between environmental degradation, child vulnerability, and community well-being.

Building on global commitments and national priorities, we strengthen community resilience by promoting climate-smart livelihoods, advancing disaster risk reduction, and expanding child- and youth-focused climate education.

Through large-scale training initiatives, nature-based solutions, water system rehabilitation, and support to climate-resilient agriculture, we enhance household adaptation capacities and safeguard environmental resources in both development and humanitarian contexts.

Five pathways.
One shared goal.

Children in Ethiopia are learning, protected, healthy, empowered and prepared to shape their futures.
