Remembering those who need help most

How one sponsor will make a difference in many lives for years to come

For Lois, sponsoring a child felt like a calling from God.

She sponsored her first child in the ’70s, after reading a magazine ad for Christian Children’s Fund of Canada (now Children Believe). It showed a child’s photo, and this phrase stayed with her: “Kids who really need help.”

That ad prompted Lois to sponsor Anna from Brazil. Soon one child became two, then three and so on. Guided by her faith and sense of duty, Lois has sponsored 15 children.

“They’ve been from all over the world, including Latin America, India and Africa. It’s been a blessing to provide help to these little ones,” she says.

Today, she corresponds lovingly with each one of her sponsored children, keeping up to date on their achievements with pride and joy.

To Lois, who never had children, these children are her family. And, that means making sure they’re provided for, even after she’s gone. That’s what led Lois to include Children Believe in her Will. She feels joy, knowing she can help for generations to come.

“It is such a good feeling to know you are helping a child who would otherwise be in a really difficult circumstance,” she tells us. “My years of being a child sponsor have shown me what a big difference even a small contribution can make in the lives of impoverished children and their families.”
