⌛Where Are They Now: Nana Sara’s journey from sponsored child to healthcare advocate

When I was very young, I had very negative thoughts because of my difficult life situation. With six children, it was hard for my parents to take care of us all and keep us in school. I blamed them for many things, even life itself.

Without my sponsor who supported me, I might be unemployed today due to a low level of education. The program and its meetings and camps had a very positive impact on me. I learned to open up more to others and to assert myself in my choices and decisions.

The choice to help others

Since childhood, I always wanted to be a teacher because I wanted to share knowledge with others. But my interests changed and instead I built a career in another field by becoming a Community Health and Hygiene Outreach Agent. My profession has special demands, but it’s also exciting because we save lives and bring life into the world. My next goal is to undergo training to become a nurse and specialize in obstetrics to become a midwife.

Since finishing my training, I have been able to discover joy in my life. I realized that having the chance to breathe is a grace that must not be wasted, and as long as we live, we must keep hoping for a better tomorrow.
