⌛Where Are They Now: Niudyl’s journey from sponsored child to stylist and encourager

When the global pandemic started my husband got sick with COVID and couldn’t work. Suddenly my beauty salon became the only source of income for us and our baby.

Everything I learned over the years as a sponsored child, and in Children Believe programs, was put into practice and put to the test.

I still remember writing and receiving letters from my sponsor and getting supplies that helped me go to school. Projects were also developed in my community to create safer spaces to play and there was also a lot of promotion to prevent violence.

The power of having choices

When I was growing up, I wanted to study animal husbandry because I loved animals and wanted to help them. I did finish my degree, but I was passionate about a number of things.

Children Believe’s training classes taught me about life skills and entrepreneurship, so I became interested in having my own business as a stylist. Being a stylist allows me to connect with people and help them feel better and beautiful, and I like that. It can help those who are going through something difficult.

Now, I want to expand my business, help other young women get jobs, and even become entrepreneurs. Participation showed me that, as a woman, I am capable of achieving many things and helping create opportunities for other women.
