Christian Children’s Fund of Canada to screen award-winning doc about a child bride turned taxi driver

Driving with Selvi is a powerful documentary about Selvi, a child bride who escapes her violent marriage to become South India’s first female taxi driver.

Christian Children’s Fund of Canada (CCFC) invites you to see it for free, June 9. Meet the award-winning director, Elisa Paloschi, and learn more about the work supporters are making possible.

“Selvi’s experience highlights the sad reality too many girls in India and around the world face for countless reasons — tradition, poverty and more. We’re working within vulnerable communities, with various stakeholders, to bring these girls and their rights to the forefront,” explains Patrick Canagasingham, CEO of CCFC. “We’re encouraged by women, like Selvi, who are showing positive change is possible.”

Follow her story. The show starts at 10 a.m. at Cineplex Cinemas Empress Walk (5095 Yonge Street, North York). Free parking is available.

Speakers include the director herself, CCFC’s CEO and Dr. Belinda Bennet, CCFC’s chief international program officer and former country director of our India office.

Seats are limited, so reserve your spot by emailing your name and the number of guests to communications@ccfcanada.ca.
