India hits a new single-day vaccination record with more than seven-million doses given

The country continues to be among the top in total cases, but there’s a new hope

There’s a sense of relief and hope in India with news that COVID-19 cases are on the decline as the number of vaccinated people continues to grow.

In the past day, India reported more than 53,000 new cases, the lowest since March 24, according to Reuters. And, a record 7.5-million vaccines were administered for free in India yesterday as part of a campaign to boost the number of inoculated people. “If supply remains consistent, we will be on course to inoculate most of our population by the end of the year,” D. N. Patil, a senior health official in India told Reuters.

The country is slowly making progress fighting the coronavirus, but it continues to be among the leaders in the number of cases globally.

At Children Believe, we’re helping coordinate vaccination campaigns with our implementing partners and local government as well as providing medical equipment, food rations, hygiene kits and mental-health support, among other initiatives, thanks to support from our donors.

India still needs your help fighting COVID-19. Learn more on how you can provide urgent relief today.
